So I, finally, had a chance to work on the car this past weekend and the results are IN:

NO SPARK.

I am so happy - this should be an easy-ish fix. I'll keep everyone posted.

Have a picture of one in better condition than mine.

Nice! I know that feeling since this weekend I found that what I feared was a cracked block was actually the plug for a temp sending unit leaking. A $5 plug instead of a new engine? It is a wonderful feeling, indeed.
